"Nigrizia" historical archive on Wikipedia
The monthly magazine "Nigrizia" becomes a partner of WikiAfrica Archives, thanks to a project of digitization and networking of its historical archive in copyleft.

The initiative is curated by Fabrizio Colombo, founder of Nigrizia Multimedia (Nimedia) and Afriradio, two institutions which, since 2007, triggered a strong cooperation with lettera27, in particular for the Festival del Cinema Africano di Verona and Festivaletteratura in Mantua.

Partner of the project is Wikimedia Italy , which through the cooperation of its administrators and community, will enrich the entries for the magazine on literature, art, cinema and African cultures.

lettera27 supports the creation of the digital archive of “Nigrizia” thanks to a one-year  scholarship in favor of Elena Dante, web master of the portal “Nigrizia”.
Elena will digitalize and edit on Wikipedia a wide selection of publications and documentation of “Nigrizia”, opening public access to an important historical heritage.

“Nigrizia” is in fact one of Italy's editorial references on the issues of Africa. Founded in 1883 as a body of information on the activities of missionaries in Sudan, the magazine, in its long history, has expanded its focus on socio-economic, political, religious and cultural aspects of life in Africa.

Besides the magazine, “Nigrizia” has activated in recent years, a series of tools based on web generated communication patterns such as the portal, the web radio Afriradio and multimedia productions Nimedia.

The publication of the digital archive on WikiAfrica represents an important development in the long path of the magazine. A wide audience of readers will have access to the rich historical heritage of “Nigrizia”, making the archive open to free exchange, study and research on Africa.
