WikiAfrica Cinema at Festival di Cinema Africano di Verona
From 13th to 21st November 2009 is held the 29th edition of the Festival di Cinema Africano di Verona. Also this year the Festival supports WikiAfrica Cinema, setting free of copyright part of its film archives on Wikipedia . This year's festival jury is composed by Silvia Montecchi, Bernardo Suate, Charles Shemu Joyah, Dagmawi Yimer, director with Andrea Segre and Richard Biadene of  "Come un uomo sulla terra" (Like a man on earth) and Vanessa Lanari, curator of WikiAfrica Cinema.

During the festival, lettera27 proposes the learning module "Cinema and Wikipedia in schools: new accesses for African cinema", aimed at upper secondary school. Curated by Vanessa Lanari, the path is developed in three meetings, two in class and one in the cinema, with the vision of a film. The project, born in collaboration between lettera27 and the Festival di Cinema Africano di Verona, with the participation of Fabrizio Colombo, director of the Film Festival in Verona, Alix Ndember, Afriradio journalist and Giancarlo Beltrame, professor of cinema and audiovisual semiotics at the University of Verona, aims to give students some ideas on African cinema and to develop with them a capacity for analysis of audiovisual texts, through the use of Wikipedia.

The online encyclopedia is a platform of knowledge that facilitates the active use of the Internet and a valuable teaching tool for the creation of new knowledge related to African cinema. In addition to the 100 already existing entries (in italian) on WikiAfrica Cinema, the workshop aims to produce new ones and to create new links and networks on African cinema.
