The project Confini/Borders started in 2008. It aimed at collecting stories, memories and testimonies on migration; documenting the migration routes in Africa and at borders; and informing the wider public about their outcomes, both through operating systems such Wikipedia and participatory forums such as the Internet.
Confini seeks to create a network of human resources capable of strengthening the collaboration among organizations, operators and privates who are involved in migration practices in order to foster a process of knowledge sharing.
Confini can be found online on the Italian version of Wikipedia. The French and English versions are waiting to be realized with the help and participation of all users.
Borders is structured along multiple interconnected thematic axes:
The section "
Sites, routes and migrations" is coordinated by Gabriele Del Grande, and it aims at tracing a map of migrations, collecting real-life stories, and providing information concerning places, journeys, migration routes and organizations that support migrants to and from Africa.
The section "
Education and reception for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers" supports the activity of
the Association Asinitas in Rome in favour of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
The "
Audiovisual" section, coordinated by Giulio Cederna and Angelo Loy, manages the communication and documentary phases of the project.
The latter section of the project "
Luoghi comuni/little migrating stories", constitutes an anthology of stories written by authors in different languages. The project, curated by Flora Forte will result in the publication of the stories on posters, which will be visible in public spaces and transport systems, such as billboards, buses, trams and underground stations in different Italian cities.
